The Military Support Committee was established on April 3, 2007 to sustain and enhance the adoptive relationship between the City of Laguna Niguel, the USS Stockdale, and the First Battalion, Fourth Marine Regiment. On April 17, 2018, the City Council adopted the 1st Assault Helicopter Battalion, 140th Aviation Regiment, 40th Infantry Division California Army National Guard Unit, a Blackhawk Combat Helicopter Battalion consisting of 400 personnel that is stationed at the Joint Forces Training Base in Los Alamitos, California. All three units are supported by the Laguna Niguel Military Support Committee which has a dedicated website.
The Committee meets on the 2nd Monday of each month at 12 p.m. (except in January and February when it meets on the 4th Monday) in the Council Chambers. Agendas are available from the calendar links below.
The Committee consists of 20 members including two City Council Members who serve as Co-Chairs. The Committee also established several Ad-Hoc Committees, including Ex-Officio Members, to help carry out the duties and responsibilities of the Committee. The Military Support Committee is also supported by the Laguna Niguel Military Support Foundation, a 501 (c)(3), non-profit organization.
