Sharps and Needle Disposal Program
State Law (Section 118286 of the California Health and Safety Code) made it illegal to dispose of sharps waste such as hypodermic needles, lancets, and test strips in the trash or recycling containers and requires that all sharps waste be transported to a collection center in an approved sharps container or other secure containers. Sea Country Senior and Community Center provides such a container for needles, lancets and other sharps waste to patrons who need to administer medication at the center. This container is not for disposal of home generated sharps waste.
There are four (4) County HHW Collection Centers that accept sharps containers.
