The Beacon Fire was reported near Alcott Pl & Ridgeway Ave.
Timeline of Events
8/20 @ 10:00 AM - The Beacon Fire is now 100% contained. The fire acreage has been updated to 2.4 acres.
OCFA conducted an investigation of the Beacon Fire, and the cause of the fire was determined to be unintentional; however, investigators were unable to eliminate the fire being ignited due to an unspecified event involving a weed abatement project conducted by the HOA on HOA property.
8/20 @ 7:00 PM - All Evacuation Warnings and Orders have now been lifted, and repopulation of affected areas is occurring. However, Copps Hill remains closed to all vehicular traffic.
8/20 @ 6:30 PM - Evacuation orders remain in place for approximately 20 homes on Copps Hill. Additionally, the Shelter-in-Place orders for Middleton Place and Alcott Place remain in effect. The intersection at Copps Hill & Ridgeway Avenue remains closed to all traffic.
8/20 @ 5:10 PM - Forward progress has been stopped at 4 acres. No structures lost. The Evacuation Warning for Richmond Hill has been lifted. Evacuation Orders remain in place for Copps Hill. Shelter-in-Place orders also remain in place for Middleton & Alcott.
8/20 @ 5:02 PM - Any resident needing assistance with pets, please call Mission Viejo Animal Services at (949) 470-3045.
08/20 @ 4:06 PM - Evacuation Orders are in place for Copps Hill. Richmond Hill is under Evacuation Warning. Shelter-in-Place order has been issued for Middleton & Alcott. Temporary shelter is open at Crown Valley Community Center at 29751 Crown Valley Pkwy.
08/20 @ 3:40 PM - A vegetation fire has been reported near Alcott Pl & Ridgeway Ave. Public Safety personnel are responding to the #BeaconFire. Please avoid the area. More updates to follow.

Evacuation Terminology
Evacuation Order
Mandatory evacuation order with hard road closures. Evacuated individuals will not be allowed to enter the area until the Evacuation Order is lifted.
Evacuation Warning
Voluntary evacuation to give you advance warning in a slow-moving event. This is to allow individuals time to evacuate an area.
Shelter-in-Place
You are directed to stay in your residence, school, workplace or other building because it has been determined that staying where you are is safer than evacuating.
Know Your Neighborhood Zone!
The City's Evacuation Zone Map includes all-hazard evacuation zones throughout the entire City, which are easily broken down by neighborhood location. Residents are encouraged to review the map and become familiar with their neighborhood zone.
