County, State, & Federal Resources

Welcome to our dedicated section on county, state, and federal affordable housing resources in Laguna Niguel. Here, we provide several county, state, and federal resources tailored for low-income renters, finding and building affordable housing, and fostering community development.

The Housing Choice Voucher Program

Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) rental assistance is a federal program for low-income renters in the United States. It is administered by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).

Section 8 vouchers allow tenants to pay only a portion of their monthly income for rent. But that’s not the only benefit — Section 8 tenants can rent from a private landlord that they choose. The Orange County Housing Authority manages this program.

OC Housing Authority

Orange County Housing Authority (OCHA) oversees federally funded programs, primarily the Housing Choice Voucher Program, to offer rental assistance to eligible tenants in privately owned rental housing.
