Colinas Bluff Trail

The trail begins in the City of Laguna Niguel at the east side of the tunnel under the Street of the Golden Lantern (See Map). The tunnel is just north of the parking area for the Dog Park. From the tunnel, the trail heads east past a water district pump-house and towards the large ridge called the Colinas Bluff. From the bluff, the trail connects with the Arroyo Trabuco Trail to the east into the City of San Juan Capistrano. The trail affords impressive views over both Laguna Niguel and San Juan Capistrano and is characterized by some very steep slopes.

Boundaries of the Trail

Much of the trail exists within the boundaries of the City of San Juan Capistrano and equestrians from several stables in San Juan Capistrano often use portions of this trail. The trail follows the ridge north to Camino Los Padres where it is aligned along the east side of the Street of the Golden Lantern until is reaches the intersection of Hidden Hills Road.

Path of the Trail

From this intersection, the trail is not constructed but is planned to go up the steep slope to the east and along the south side of the Rancho Reservoir to reconnect with the Colinas Bluff. At this point on the bluff, the existing trail continues north until it drops down off the bluff to the east and passes a vacant residential subdivision at the end of Avenida Del Caballo. From Avenida Del Caballo, the trail traverses along the southwest side of the Mercedes Benz of Laguna dealership on Star Drive where it is planned to connect to the Oso Creek Trail.
