Doing Business with the City
The City does not require a business license, however, there are certain approvals required for a new business.
Some business may require a Use Permit. Please contact the Planning Department at (949) 362-4300.
Home-based businesses require a
Home Occupancy Permit
. There are restrictions as to the type of business that a resident can operate out of a residential property.
Signs require a
Banners are only permitted under certain conditions and require a
Temporary Banner Permit
. Balloons, pennants, flags, human signs, etc., are prohibited.
All brick and motor businesses are required to obtain a
Certificate of Occupancy
for the following: new business, change in business type/operation, change of business name, and change of ownership.

Business Ownership Information
The City does not have business ownership information since we do not require a business license. The information may be obtained on the
County of Orange Clerk-Recorder’s Office website
or by calling (714) 834-3005. The
California Secretary of State’s website
provides State information on corporations and limited liability partnerships.
