Volunteer Opportunities

The Parks and Recreation Department offers a variety of special events throughout the year that provide volunteer opportunities for residents of all ages. The Department cannot accept court ordered volunteers. Please contact Police Services at (949) 362-4343 for information about P.A.C.T. (Police Auxiliary Citizens Team) or Emergency Radio and CERT team volunteer opportunities. 

Summer Volunteer Opportunities 

Squirrels Day Camp (June to August)

“VolunTeens” are needed each summer to assist staff and campers at Squirrels Summer Day Camp. Squirrels Camp provides a variety of recreation activities for campers entering 1st through 3rd grades. VolunTeens must be 13 to 17 years old, must commit to attending one week of camp, and must participate in the mandatory training on Thursday, June 13 from 10am to 12pm. On Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, the VolunTeen will assist during the morning shift from 8:00am to 12:30pm or the afternoon shift from 12:30pm to 4:45pm. (The afternoon shift includes swimming.) On Wednesday, they will assist all day from 8:00am to 4:45pm. Applications will be available online beginning May 1 at 8:00am (from www.LNteens.org) and from the Parks and Recreation registration office at Crown Valley Park. Space is limited and priority will be given to early applicants and to Laguna Niguel residents.

Fall Volunteer Opportunities 

Haunted Trails (October)

WANTED: MONSTERS! Must be 13 years of age or older. (Adults/supervisors are also welcome!) Volunteers must be willing to provide their own costume, wear make-up or a mask, practice "safe scare" techniques, have the ability to scream or use a shaker and follow directions. Commitment to all training meetings and event dates is required to participate. Volunteers must pre-register at LNteens.org prior to the October 1st meeting. Residents will be given priority at the Monster opportunity drawing on October 1st. Volunteer registration information coming Fall 2019.

Winter Volunteer Opportunities 

Christmas Tree Lighting (December)

This annual event is held at City Hall and volunteer hours are 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Volunteers will help with crafts, games and line control. Space is limited. Volunteers must sign up prior to event day. Registration information coming soon.   

Holiday Parade (December)

Be a part of one of Laguna Niguel's biggest and most treasured events of the year! Volunteers must be 13 years and older and are needed for registration, pacing, staging, etc. Hours vary depending on assignment. For more information, go to www.lagunaniguelparade.com. 

Spring Volunteer Opportunities
Bunny Bonanza (April 13, 2019) 

A fun children's event held at Chapparosa Park. Must be 13 years old. Volunteers will help with crafts, games and line control from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Space is limited. Volunteers must sign up prior to event day by clicking here to register. 

Earth Day Celebration (April 20, 2019)

This special day will be dedicated to planting, weeding and cleaning up a portion of the Niguel Botanical Preserve located in the Crown Valley. Parents must supervise children ages 6-12 years. Community and corporate groups are encouraged to participate. Visit lnteens.org to R.S.V.P. or click here.
