The Playground Replacement Projects at La Plata Park and Marina Hills Park are focused on the renovation of the playground equipment and surfacing within the existing playground areas at each park location.
The La Plata Park and Marina Hills Park Playground Rehabilitation Projects were under construction in early 2020 when they were delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak. The new playground equipment was procured by the City, but was not installed by the contractor when the projects were halted. Currently, the playground equipment is stored on City property.
The City has actively pursued a grant to pay a significant portion of the remaining costs. The City Council adopted Resolution No. 2020-1348 on December 15, 2020 to allocate State Park funding towards the playground equipment installation.
The project will be completed in Fiscal Year 2021-22 and is on the Park and Recreation Commission's prioritized playground replacement plan. The City will be advertising bids and awarding a contract in the Fall and Winter 2021. Construction is expected to begin in Spring 2022, and the project will be completed in Summer 2022.
This page will be actively updated to share the current status of these projects. For any questions, please contact Project Manager JC Herrera at (949) 362-4382.
