Laguna Ridge Trail
About the Trail
The Laguna Ridge Trail is located in the southwestern corner of the City and extends along the western side of the Monarch Point, Pinnacle at Monarch and Laguna Sur residential communities on a ridge which overlooks South Laguna Beach (See Map). On a clear day there are outstanding views of the Pacific Ocean, Catalina Island and the coastline from San Mateo Point, in San Clemente, to Newport Beach. The south end of the trail is planned to connect with the City of Dana Point on the ridge west of Seaway Drive near the Monarch Point community.
The central portion of the trail traverses through Badlands Park, which is owned and maintained by the County of Orange, and connects to Isle Vista near the gated entrance to Monarch Point. The northern portion of the trail connects through the gated entrance at the west end of Ocean Way, then follows sidewalks along private streets and a walkway within the Laguna Sur community. It eventually connects with trails leading west towards South Laguna Beach and to Seaview Park at the gated entrance to Laguna Sur on Talavera Drive.
The trail primarily consists of natural and decomposed granite surfaces that vary in width from approximately 5-10 feet along the Monarch Point and Pinnacle at Monarch communities. Through the Laguna Sur community the trail is primarily asphalt or concrete since it follows sidewalks and a paved walkway.
