Summer Day Camps

Every summer, children entering 1st through 8th grades participate in the popular Squirrels and Coyotes Summer Day Camps. Based out of Crown Valley Park with excursions to the beach and local amusement parks, the camps allow campers to enjoy a variety of outdoor group games and team building activities, swimming, crafts, and nature exploration in the 18-acre botanical preserve while under the supervision of caring City staff and VolunTeens. Camps meet from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with an Extended Camp option from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Squirrels Camp is offered for children who have completed Kindergarten and are entering 1st to 3rd grades in the fall. Squirrels campers experience outdoor play, group games on the soccer field, handball, daily swimming, water play in the Sprayground, climbing at the nature playground, science and nature exploration in the botanical preserve, singing camp songs, construction toy building, board games, arts and crafts projects, and themed presentations on selected Fridays.

Squirrels campers may sign up for swim lessons on Tuesdays and Thursdays for an additional fee. On selected weeks, Squirrels campers travel to amusement parks or museums on Wednesdays. In summer 2018, campers will visit Legoland and Discovery Cube Orange County. Squirrels Camp is based at Crown Valley Park in the View and Patio Rooms.

Coyotes Camp is offered for youth entering 4th to 8th grades in the fall. Coyotes campers experience outdoor play, ball games, low and high-intensity group games, swimming, diving, icebreakers, team-building activities, board and card games, arts and crafts, dramatic play, karaoke, Wii games, and “minute-to-win-it” contests.
