Mandatory Organic Waste Recycling
California's Assembly Bill 1826 requires all businesses and commercial centers that generate a certain amount of organic waste to develop a program to recycle that waste, rather than send it to a landfill.  Organic waste includes food scraps, vegetable trimmings, plate scrapings, spoiled food, excess food inventory, and gardening wastes.  Acceptable.jpg

To comply, your business can:

  • Donate edible food to a food bank.
    • Waste Not OC Coalition (www.wastenotoc.org)
    • Second Harvest of OC ()
  • Self-haul to a recycling or composting facility that accepts food waste.
    • West Valley Materials Recovery 800-442-2283
    • R. A. Nelson Materials Recovery 951-955-8980
  • Recycle by discarding into food waste collection containers provided by the City's waste hauling company, CR&R.
