    A certificate of Use and Occupancy is required* for all businesses located within the City of Laguna Niguel. A Certificate is required if:        

    • A building permit is issued for alterations to the lease space;
    • Any change of business type or operation or any change in business name; or
    • Any change in the use or character of the existing business.

    *2010 California Building Code Section 111.1 Use and occupancy: No building or structure shall be used or occupied, and no change in the existing occupancy classification of a building or structure or portion thereof shall be made, until the building official has issued a certificate of occupancy therefore as provided he
