The City of Laguna Niguel receives an annual grant allocation from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) under the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program. The purpose of the grant is to assist the City in providing decent housing and suitable living environment, addressing community service and facility needs, and expanding economic opportunities for primarily low and moderate income persons.
During FY 2016/2017 (July 1, 2016 through June 30, 2017), the City awarded CDBG funds to a number of nonprofit agencies in support of Laguna Niguel youth, elderly, persons at risk of homelessness, and persons in need of health services. The City also designated CDBG funds for public improvement projects including Street Resurfacing within CDBG-eligible areas.
The City’s annual report, or the Consolidated Annual Performance and Evaluation Report (CAPER), details the uses of CDBG funds and achievements. The CAPER will be available for public review from August 31, 2017 to September 14, 2017. Written comments on the CAPER will be accepted until 5:00 p.m. on September 14, 2017.
Information on the CAPER and the City’s CDBG program are available for public review at the Community Development Department, 30111 Crown Valley Parkway, Laguna Niguel, California 92677, (949) 362-4375.
